Reflections on Maroon Lake

At the peak of fall aspen color, the reflections on a very still Maroon Lake were exquisite. The photo was the monthly winner in February 2000 in the Nature category at Wolf Camera.

Hands Reaching for Heaven

After a snow at Roxborough State Park, the giant rocks looked as if they were uplifted to the skies. This image was the Photo of the Day at Photohighway for February 24, 2001.

Go Faster, Daddy!

Snowmobiling is popular near Grand Lake in the winter. The photo won honors in the d-store Winter Contest for week 10.

Young Sled Dog Racer

Kids start as young as age seven in learning to drive sled dogs. This junior racer was competing near Grand Lake. The photo was a winner in the d-store Winter Contest for week 10.

 Colorado Postcard

The shadows and fenceposts recede into a beautiful treed canyon in Floyd Hill. The image was featured in the d-store Winter Contest for week 10.

 Horse in a Snowy Canyon

After a hike through a snowy Castlewood Canyon, the landscape opened up into a lovely valley. The photo won honors in the d-store Winter Contest for week 9.

Mates for Life

For two years in a row, we have observed this nesting pair of bald eagles in Weld County. The image was the photo of the day in the Animals category on January 29, 2001 at Digital Photo Contest.

The Bald Eagle Has Returned!

A tall cottonwood provides a perch for a bald eagle in Weld County. The image won honors in the d-store Winter Contest for week 7.

Ice Crystals in Abstract

Sprague Lake's surface was frozen solid. Atop it, ice crystals demonstrate the fractal geometry of nature. Taken in Rocky Mountain National Park, this image was a week 7 winner in the d-store Winter Contest.

Gray Jay on High

These birds live all over the Rockies. This particular one was at an altitude of about 10,000 feet in Rocky Mountain National Park in winter. We were hiking from Bear Lake to Dream Lake in the snow. It was featured on the d-store Winter Contest for week 6.
