Over the Rockies
Pike's Peak had a fresh coat of snow on top from the cold front
that had moved through the night before. And a few clouds were
still hanging around as I rode in another hot air balloon on that

Mountain goats like this one love to munch on the alpine aven

Preparations
I am privileged to fly aboard a hot-air balloon each year at the
Rocky Mountain Balloon Festival. Here my pilot, Kathy Smith,
checks the envelope and ropes of her balloon. This photo was the

The rut (mating season) started early in Rocky Mountain National
Park. A huge bull elk was glaring at a his competitor. The image

Magical
Crested Butte
After shooting sunrise each morning up high, we could then see
fantastic low-lying clouds in the valley of Crested Butte.. They

Synchronized

Lake Sunrise
After a thwarted attempt at photographing Sprague Lake (the road
was closed), I opted to go to Bear Lake instead. Things generally

Wildflower
Falls
I went to visit this waterfall above Crested Butte one evening.
I rolled up my pants legs and put on my aqua shoes to wade across
and get closer to the wildflowers. This photo was the Shutterbugs
