Winter
Rarity--An Ermine
On this day, we saw two of these weasels, which are known as ermine
in their winter camouflage. This one became the Animals Photo

Photoshowdown

winner for the month. It was also one of the Pictures of the Year at the same site. |

Sunrise
at Garden of the Gods
We had a few inches of snow, so I headed down to Garden of the
Gods to capture this composition. The sunrise became a Photo of
the Day at Photoshowdown
on January 16, 2005 and was a finalist in the Betterphoto
January Contest. |

The
Mutants
A "normal"
image of two bighorn sheep became this kaleidoscopic version.
It looked just like mutants. The aberration was a Photo of the
Day at Photoshowdown
on February 17, 2005. |
|
Intense
Ferruginous Hawk
This resident of the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program looked so intense
as it stretched its wings. The bird was the Animals Photo of the
Day at Bestfoto
on February 11, 2005. |
|
Replicants
My
3-year-old grandson was a bundle of energy as he mastered the
local playground. I wanted to convey this in a Photoshop-manipulated
image. It was the Photo of the Day in the Open Category at Bestfoto
on February 10, 2005. |

A regal-looking Mt. Evans mountain goat was the Photoshowdown

Dancers
Jonathon Borofsky's sculpture, entitled "Dancers." It
is public art in front of the Denver Center for the Performing
Arts. The figures are sixty feet high, and are engineering feats
in themselves. They took the Still
Life Photo of the Day at Shutterbugs
on January 28, 2005. |
|
Sentinels
Rock formations at Garden of the Gods guard Pike's Peak. The image
was the Scenic

Curly
The locals call this fox Curly, because of his ear that folds
over. He is one of my favorite foxes to photograph and is very
unskittish as you can see. He became the Animals Photo of the
Day at Bestfoto
on January 9, 2005. |
|
Garden
of the Gods
Everywhere you look at Garden of the Gods, the red rock formations
present a new composition. This one was the Scenic
Photo of the Day at Shutterbugs
on January 6, 2005. |
|
Balanced
Rock
This is another of my favorite formations at Garden of the Gods,
Balanced Rock. It is actually a gigantic behemoth, which looks
smaller as it is framed in yet more formations. The photo took
the Scenic Photo of the Day honors at Bestfoto
on January 6, 2005 and at Photoshowdown
on January 6, 2005. |
